الٓمٓAlif Lam Mim. 1

تَنزِيلُ(The) revelationٱلْكِتَـٰبِ(of) the Book,لَا(there is) noرَيْبَdoubtفِيهِabout it,مِنfromرَّبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds. 2

أَمْOrيَقُولُونَ(do) they say,ٱفْتَرَٮٰهُ‌ۚ`He invented it`?بَلْNay,هُوَitٱلْحَقُّ(is) the truthمِنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordلِتُنذِرَthat you may warnقَوْمًاa peopleمَّآnotأَتَـٰهُمhas come to themمِّنanyنَّذِيرٍwarnerمِّن قَبْلِكَbefore youلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَهْتَدُونَbe guided. 3

ٱللَّهُAllahٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoخَلَقَcreatedٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between themفِىinسِتَّةِsixأَيَّامٍperiods.ثُمَّThenٱسْتَوَىٰestablished Himselfعَلَىonٱلْعَرْشِ‌ۖthe Throne.مَاNotلَكُمfor youمِّن دُونِهِۦbesides Himمِنanyوَلِىٍّprotectorوَلَاand notشَفِيعٍ‌ۚany intercessor.أَفَلَاThen will notتَتَذَكَّرُونَyou take heed? 4

يُدَبِّرُHe regulatesٱلْأَمْرَthe affairمِنَofٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavenإِلَىtoٱلْأَرْضِthe earth;ثُمَّthenيَعْرُجُit will ascendإِلَيْهِto Himفِىinيَوْمٍa Day,كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥٓ(the) measure of which isأَلْفَa thousandسَنَةٍyearsمِّمَّاof whatتَعُدُّونَyou count. 5

ذَٲلِكَThatعَـٰلِمُ(is the) Knowerٱلْغَيْبِ(of) the hiddenوَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِand the witnessed,ٱلْعَزِيزُthe All-Mighty,ٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful, 6

ٱلَّذِىٓThe One Whoأَحْسَنَmade goodكُلَّeveryشَىْءٍthingخَلَقَهُۥ‌ۖHe created,وَبَدَأَand He beganخَلْقَ(the) creationٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ(of) manمِنfromطِينٍclay. 7

ثُمَّThenجَعَلَHe madeنَسْلَهُۥhis progenyمِنfromسُلَـٰلَةٍan extractمِّنofمَّآءٍwaterمَّهِينٍdespised. 8

ثُمَّThenسَوَّٮٰهُHe fashioned himوَنَفَخَand breathedفِيهِinto himمِنfromرُّوحِهِۦ‌ۖHis spiritوَجَعَلَand madeلَكُمُfor youٱلسَّمْعَthe hearingوَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَand the sightوَٱلْأَفْــِٔدَةَ‌ۚand feelings;قَلِيلاًlittleمَّا[what]تَشْكُرُونَthanks you give. 9

وَقَالُوٓاْAnd they say,أَءِذَا`Is (it) whenضَلَلْنَاwe are lostفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earth,أَءِنَّاwill weلَفِىcertainly be inخَلْقٍa creationجَدِيدِۭ‌ۚnew?`بَلْNay,هُمtheyبِلِقَآءِin (the) meetingرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lordكَـٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers. 10

۞ قُلْSay,يَتَوَفَّـٰكُم`Will take your soulمَّلَكُ(the) Angelٱلْمَوْتِ(of) the deathٱلَّذِىthe one whoوُكِّلَhas been put in chargeبِكُمْof you.ثُمَّThenإِلَىٰtoرَبِّكُمْyour Lordتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned.` 11

وَلَوْAnd ifتَرَىٰٓyou (could) seeإِذِwhenٱلْمُجْرِمُونَthe criminalsنَاكِسُواْ(will) hangرُءُوسِهِمْtheir headsعِندَbeforeرَبِّهِمْtheir Lord,رَبَّنَآ`Our Lordأَبْصَرْنَاwe have seenوَسَمِعْنَاand we have heard,فَٱرْجِعْنَاso return us,نَعْمَلْwe will doصَـٰلِحًاrighteous (deeds).إِنَّاIndeed, weمُوقِنُونَ(are now) certain.` 12

وَلَوْAnd ifشِئْنَاWe (had) willed,لَأَتَيْنَاsurely We (would) have givenكُلَّeveryنَفْسٍsoulهُدَٮٰهَاits guidance,وَلَـٰكِنْbutحَقَّ(is) trueٱلْقَوْلُthe Wordمِنِّىfrom Meلَأَمْلَأَنَّthat I will surely fillجَهَنَّمَHellمِنَwithٱلْجِنَّةِthe jinnوَٱلنَّاسِand the menأَجْمَعِينَtogether. 13

فَذُوقُواْSo tasteبِمَاbecauseنَسِيتُمْyou forgotلِقَآءَ(the) meeting,يَوْمِكُمْ هَـٰذَآ(of) this Day of yours.إِنَّاIndeed, Weنَسِينَـٰكُمْ‌ۖhave forgotten you.وَذُوقُواْAnd tasteعَذَابَ(the) punishmentٱلْخُلْدِ(of) eternityبِمَاfor whatكُنتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَdo.` 14

إِنَّمَاOnlyيُؤْمِنُbelieveبِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَاin Our Versesٱلَّذِينَthose whoإِذَاwhenذُكِّرُواْthey are remindedبِهَاof themخَرُّواْfall downسُجَّدًاprostratingوَسَبَّحُواْand glorifyبِحَمْدِ(the) praisesرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lord,وَهُمْand theyلَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ۩are not arrogant. 15

تَتَجَافَىٰForsakeجُنُوبُهُمْtheir sidesعَنِfromٱلْمَضَاجِعِ(their) beds;يَدْعُونَthey callرَبَّهُمْtheir Lordخَوْفًا(in) fearوَطَمَعًاand hope,وَمِمَّاand out of whatرَزَقْنَـٰهُمْWe have provided themيُنفِقُونَthey spend. 16

فَلَاAnd notتَعْلَمُknowsنَفْسٌa soulمَّآwhatأُخْفِىَis hiddenلَهُمfor themمِّنofقُرَّةِ(the) comfortأَعْيُنٍ(for) the eyesجَزَآءَۢ(as) a rewardبِمَاfor whatكَانُواْthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَdo. 17

أَفَمَنThen is one whoكَانَisمُؤْمِنًاa believerكَمَنlike (him) whoكَانَisفَاسِقًا‌ۚdefiantly disobedient?لَّاNotيَسْتَوُۥنَthey are equal. 18

أَمَّاAs forٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُواْbelieveوَعَمِلُواْand doٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِrighteous deeds,فَلَهُمْthen for themجَنَّـٰتُ(are) Gardensٱلْمَأْوَىٰ(of) Refugeنُزُلاَۢ(as) hospitalityبِمَاfor whatكَانُواْthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَdo. 19

وَأَمَّاBut as forٱلَّذِينَthose whoفَسَقُواْare defiantly disobedientفَمَأْوَٮٰهُمُthen their refugeٱلنَّارُ‌ۖ(is) the Fire.كُلَّمَآEvery timeأَرَادُوٓاْthey wishأَنtoيَخْرُجُواْcome outمِنْهَآfrom it,أُعِيدُواْthey (will) be returnedفِيهَاin it,وَقِيلَand it (will) be saidلَهُمْto them,ذُوقُواْ`Tasteعَذَابَ(the) punishmentٱلنَّارِ(of) the Fireٱلَّذِىwhichكُنتُمyou used (to)بِهِۦ[in it]تُكَذِّبُونَdeny.` 20

وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُمAnd surely, We will let them tasteمِّنَofٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentٱلْأَدْنَىٰthe nearerدُونَbeforeٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentٱلْأَكْبَرِthe greater,لَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَرْجِعُونَreturn. 21

وَمَنْAnd whoأَظْلَمُ(is) more unjustمِمَّنthan (he) whoذُكِّرَis remindedبِـَٔـايَـٰتِof (the) Versesرَبِّهِۦ(of) his Lord,ثُمَّthenأَعْرَضَhe turns awayعَنْهَآ‌ۚfrom them?إِنَّاIndeed, Weمِنَfromٱلْمُجْرِمِينَthe criminals,مُنتَقِمُونَ(will) take retribution. 22

وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyءَاتَيْنَاWe gaveمُوسَىMusaٱلْكِتَـٰبَthe Scripture,فَلَاso (do) notتَكُنbeفِىinمِرْيَةٍdoubtمِّنaboutلِّقَآئِهِۦ‌ۖreceiving it.وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُAnd We made itهُدًىa guideلِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٲٓءِيلَfor the Children of Israel. 23

وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We madeمِنْهُمْfrom themأَئِمَّةًleadersيَهْدُونَguidingبِأَمْرِنَاby Our Commandلَمَّاwhenصَبَرُواْ‌ۖthey were patientوَكَانُواْand they wereبِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَاof Our Versesيُوقِنُونَcertain. 24

إِنَّIndeed,رَبَّكَyour Lordهُوَ[He]يَفْصِلُwill judgeبَيْنَهُمْbetween themيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ(of) Resurrectionفِيمَاin whatكَانُواْthey used (to)فِيهِ[in it]يَخْتَلِفُونَdiffer. 25

أَوَلَمْDoes it notيَهْدِguideلَهُمْ[for] them,كَمْ(that) how manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe have destroyedمِن قَبْلِهِمbefore themمِّنَofٱلْقُرُونِthe generations,يَمْشُونَthey walk aboutفِىinمَسَـٰكِنِهِمْ‌ۚtheir dwellings.إِنَّIndeed,فِىinذَٲلِكَthatلَأَيَـٰتٍ‌ۖsurely, are Signs.أَفَلَاThen do notيَسْمَعُونَthey hear? 26

أَوَلَمْDo notيَرَوْاْthey seeأَنَّاthat Weنَسُوقُdriveٱلْمَآءَwaterإِلَىtoٱلْأَرْضِthe landٱلْجُرُزِ[the] barren,فَنُخْرِجُthen We bring forthبِهِۦtherebyزَرْعًاcrops,تَأْكُلُeatمِنْهُfrom itأَنْعَـٰمُهُمْtheir cattleوَأَنفُسُهُمْ‌ۖand they themselves?أَفَلَاThen do notيُبْصِرُونَthey see? 27

وَيَقُولُونَAnd they say,مَتَىٰ`When (will be)هَـٰذَاthisٱلْفَتْحُdecision,إِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَـٰدِقِينَtruthful?` 28

قُلْSay,يَوْمَ`(On the) Dayٱلْفَتْحِ(of) the Decision,لَاnotيَنفَعُwill benefitٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوٓاْdisbelieveإِيمَـٰنُهُمْtheir beliefوَلَاand notهُمْtheyيُنظَرُونَwill be granted respite.` 29

فَأَعْرِضْSo turn awayعَنْهُمْfrom themوَٱنتَظِرْand wait.إِنَّهُمIndeed, theyمُّنتَظِرُونَ(are) waiting. 30
