الٓر‌ۚAlif Laam Ra.تِلْكَTheseءَايَـٰتُ(are the) Versesٱلْكِتَـٰبِ(of) the Bookٱلْمُبِينِ[the] clear. 1

إِنَّآIndeed, We,أَنزَلْنَـٰهُWe have sent it down,قُرْءَٲنًا عَرَبِيًّا(as) a Quran in Arabicلَّعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتَعْقِلُونَunderstand. 2

نَحْنُWeنَقُصُّrelateعَلَيْكَto youأَحْسَنَthe bestٱلْقَصَصِof the narrationsبِمَآin whatأَوْحَيْنَآWe have revealedإِلَيْكَto youهَـٰذَا(of) thisٱلْقُرْءَانَthe Quran,وَإِنalthoughكُنتَyou were,مِن قَبْلِهِۦbefore it,لَمِنَsurely amongٱلْغَـٰفِلِينَthe unaware. 3

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidيُوسُفُYusufلِأَبِيهِto his father,يَـٰٓأَبَتِ"O my father!إِنِّىIndeed, IرَأَيْتُI sawأَحَدَ عَشَرَelevenكَوْكَبًاstar(s)وَٱلشَّمْسَand the sunوَٱلْقَمَرَand the moon;رَأَيْتُهُمْI saw themلِىto meسَـٰجِدِينَprostrating." 4

قَالَHe said,يَـٰبُنَىَّ"O my son!لَا(Do) notتَقْصُصْrelateرُءْيَاكَyour visionعَلَىٰٓtoإِخْوَتِكَyour brothersفَيَكِيدُواْlest they planلَكَagainst youكَيْدًا‌ۖa plot.إِنَّIndeed,ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَthe Shaitaanلِلْإِنسَـٰنِ(is) to manعَدُوٌّan enemyمُّبِينٌopen. 5

وَكَذَٲلِكَAnd thusيَجْتَبِيكَwill choose youرَبُّكَyour Lordوَيُعَلِّمُكَand will teach youمِنofتَأْوِيلِ(the) interpretationٱلْأَحَادِيثِ(of) the narrativesوَيُتِمُّand completeنِعْمَتَهُۥHis Favorعَلَيْكَon youوَعَلَىٰٓand onءَالِ(the) familyيَعْقُوبَ(of) YaqubكَمَآasأَتَمَّهَاHe completed itعَلَىٰٓonأَبَوَيْكَyour two forefathersمِن قَبْلُbefore -إِبْرَٲهِيمَIbrahimوَإِسْحَـٰقَ‌ۚand Ishaq.إِنَّIndeed,رَبَّكَyour Lordعَلِيمٌ(is) All-Knower,حَكِيمٌAll-Wise." 6

۞ لَّقَدْCertainlyكَانَwereفِىinيُوسُفَYusufوَإِخْوَتِهِۦٓand his brothersءَايَـٰتٌsignsلِّلسَّآئِلِينَfor those who ask. 7

إِذْWhenقَالُواْthey said,لَيُوسُفُ"Surely Yusufوَأَخُوهُand his brotherأَحَبُّ(are) more belovedإِلَىٰٓtoأَبِينَاour fatherمِنَّاthan we,وَنَحْنُwhile weعُصْبَةٌ(are) a group.إِنَّIndeed,أَبَانَاour fatherلَفِى(is) surely inضَلَـٰلٍan errorمُّبِينٍclear. 8

ٱقْتُلُواْKillيُوسُفَYusufأَوِorٱطْرَحُوهُcast himأَرْضًا(to) a landيَخْلُso will be freeلَكُمْfor youوَجْهُ(the) faceأَبِيكُمْ(of) your father,وَتَكُونُواْand you will beمِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦafter thatقَوْمًاa peopleصَـٰلِحِينَrighteous." 9

قَالَSaidقَآئِلٌa speakerمِّنْهُمْamong them,لَا"(Do) notتَقْتُلُواْkillيُوسُفَYusufوَأَلْقُوهُbut throw himفِىinغَيَـٰبَتِthe bottomٱلْجُبِّ(of) the well,يَلْتَقِطْهُwill pick himبَعْضُsomeٱلسَّيَّارَةِ[the] caravanإِنifكُنتُمْyou areفَـٰعِلِينَdoing." 10

قَالُواْThey said,يَـٰٓأَبَانَا"O our father!مَاWhyلَكَ(do) youلَاnotتَأْمَ۫نَّاtrust usعَلَىٰwithيُوسُفَYusuf,وَإِنَّاwhile indeed, weلَهُۥ(are) for himلَنَـٰصِحُونَsurely well-wishers? 11

أَرْسِلْهُSend himمَعَنَاwith usغَدًاtomorrow,يَرْتَعْ(to) enjoyوَيَلْعَبْand play.وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, weلَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَwill surely be his guardians." 12

قَالَHe said,إِنِّى"Indeed, [I]لَيَحْزُنُنِىٓit surely saddens meأَنthatتَذْهَبُواْ بِهِۦyou should take himوَأَخَافُand I fearأَنthatيَأْكُلَهُwould eat himٱلذِّئْبُa wolfوَأَنتُمْwhile youعَنْهُof himغَـٰفِلُونَ(are) unaware." 13

قَالُواْThey said,لَئِنْ"Ifأَكَلَهُeats himٱلذِّئْبُthe wolfوَنَحْنُwhile weعُصْبَةٌ(are) a group,إِنَّآindeed, weإِذًاthenلَّخَـٰسِرُونَsurely (would be) losers." 14

فَلَمَّاSo whenذَهَبُواْ بِهِۦthey took himوَأَجْمَعُوٓاْand agreedأَنthatيَجْعَلُوهُthey put himفِىinغَيَـٰبَتِ(the) bottomٱلْجُبِّ‌ۚ(of) the well.وَأَوْحَيْنَآBut We inspiredإِلَيْهِto him,لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُم"Surely, you will inform themبِأَمْرِهِمْ هَـٰذَاabout this affair,وَهُمْwhile theyلَا(do) notيَشْعُرُونَperceive." 15

وَجَآءُوٓAnd they cameأَبَاهُمْ(to) their fatherعِشَآءًearly at nightيَبْكُونَweeping. 16

قَالُواْThey said,يَـٰٓأَبَانَآ"O our father!إِنَّاIndeed, weذَهَبْنَا[we] wentنَسْتَبِقُracing each otherوَتَرَكْنَاand we leftيُوسُفَYusufعِندَwithمَتَـٰعِنَاour possessions,فَأَكَلَهُand ate himٱلذِّئْبُ‌ۖthe wolf.وَمَآBut notأَنتَyouبِمُؤْمِنٍ(will) believeلَّنَاus,وَلَوْeven ifكُنَّاwe areصَـٰدِقِينَtruthful." 17

وَجَآءُوAnd they broughtعَلَىٰuponقَمِيصِهِۦhis shirtبِدَمٍ كَذِبٍ‌ۚwith false blood.قَالَHe said,بَلْ"Nay,سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْhas enticed youأَنفُسُكُمْyour soulsأَمْرًا‌ۖ(to) a matter,فَصَبْرٌso patienceجَمِيلٌ‌ۖ(is) beautiful.وَٱللَّهُAnd Allahٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ(is) the One sought for helpعَلَىٰagainstمَاwhatتَصِفُونَyou describe." 18

وَجَآءَتْAnd there cameسَيَّارَةٌa caravanفَأَرْسَلُواْand they sentوَارِدَهُمْtheir water drawerفَأَدْلَىٰthen he let downدَلْوَهُۥ‌ۖhis bucket.قَالَHe said,يَـٰبُشْرَىٰ"O good news!هَـٰذَاThisغُلَـٰمٌ‌ۚ(is) a boy."وَأَسَرُّوهُAnd they hid himبِضَـٰعَةً‌ۚ(as) a merchandise.وَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمُۢ(is) All- Knowerبِمَاof whatيَعْمَلُونَthey do. 19

وَشَرَوْهُAnd they sold himبِثَمَنِۭfor a priceبَخْسٍvery low,دَرَٲهِمَdirhamsمَعْدُودَةٍfew,وَكَانُواْand they wereفِيهِabout himمِنَofٱلزَّٲهِدِينَthose keen to give up. 20

وَقَالَAnd saidٱلَّذِىthe one whoٱشْتَرَٮٰهُbought himمِنofمِّصْرَEgyptلِٱمْرَأَتِهِۦٓto his wife,أَكْرِمِى"Make comfortableمَثْوَٮٰهُhis stay.عَسَىٰٓPerhapsأَنthatيَنفَعَنَآ(he) will benefit usأَوْorنَتَّخِذَهُۥwe will take himوَلَدًا‌ۚ(as) a son."وَكَذَٲلِكَAnd thusمَكَّنَّاWe establishedلِيُوسُفَYusufفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landوَلِنُعَلِّمَهُۥthat We might teach himمِن تَأْوِيلِ(the) interpretation ofٱلْأَحَادِيثِ‌ۚthe events.وَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَالِبٌ(is) PredominantعَلَىٰٓoverأَمْرِهِۦHis affairs,وَلَـٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَmostٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peopleلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow. 21

وَلَمَّاAnd whenبَلَغَhe reachedأَشُدَّهُۥٓhis maturity,ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُWe gave himحُكْمًاwisdomوَعِلْمًا‌ۚand knowledge.وَكَذَٲلِكَAnd thusنَجْزِىWe rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers. 22

وَرَٲوَدَتْهُAnd sought to seduce himٱلَّتِىshe who,هُوَhe (was)فِىinبَيْتِهَاher houseعَنfromنَّفْسِهِۦhis self.وَغَلَّقَتِAnd she closedٱلْأَبْوَٲبَthe doorsوَقَالَتْand she said,هَيْتَ"Come onلَكَ‌ۚyou."قَالَHe said,مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ"I seek refuge in Allah.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, heرَبِّىٓ(is) my lordأَحْسَنَ(who has) made goodمَثْوَاىَ‌ۖmy stay.إِنَّهُۥIndeed,لَاnotيُفْلِحُwill succeedٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَthe wrongdoers." 23

وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyهَمَّتْshe did desireبِهِۦ‌ۖhim,وَهَمَّand he would have desiredبِهَاher,لَوْلَآif notأَنthatرَّءَاhe sawبُرْهَـٰنَthe proofرَبِّهِۦ‌ۚ(of) his Lord.كَذَٲلِكَThus,لِنَصْرِفَthat We might avertعَنْهُfrom himٱلسُّوٓءَthe evilوَٱلْفَحْشَآءَ‌ۚand the immorality.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, heمِنْ(was) ofعِبَادِنَاOur slavesٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe sincere. 24

وَٱسْتَبَقَاAnd they both racedٱلْبَابَ(to) the doorوَقَدَّتْand she toreقَمِيصَهُۥhis shirtمِنfromدُبُرٍthe back,وَأَلْفَيَاand they both foundسَيِّدَهَاher husbandلَدَاatٱلْبَابِ‌ۚthe door.قَالَتْShe said,مَا"Whatجَزَآءُ(is) the recompenseمَنْ(of one) whoأَرَادَintendedبِأَهْلِكَfor your wifeسُوٓءًاevilإِلَّآexceptأَنthatيُسْجَنَhe be imprisonedأَوْorعَذَابٌa punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful?" 25

قَالَHe said,هِىَ"Sheرَٲوَدَتْنِىsought to seduce meعَنaboutنَّفْسِى‌ۚmyself."وَشَهِدَAnd testifiedشَاهِدٌa witnessمِّنْofأَهْلِهَآher familyإِن"Ifكَانَ[is]قَمِيصُهُۥhis shirtقُدَّ(is) tornمِنfromقُبُلٍthe frontفَصَدَقَتْthen she has spoken the truth,وَهُوَand heمِنَ(is) ofٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَthe liars. 26

وَإِنBut ifكَانَ[is]قَمِيصُهُۥhis shirtقُدَّ(is) tornمِنfromدُبُرٍ(the) backفَكَذَبَتْthen she has liedوَهُوَand heمِنَ(is) ofٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthful." 27

فَلَمَّاSo whenرَءَاhe sawقَمِيصَهُۥhis shirtقُدَّtornمِنfromدُبُرٍ(the) backقَالَhe said,إِنَّهُۥ"Indeed, itمِن(is) ofكَيْدِكُنَّ‌ۖyour plot.إِنَّIndeed,كَيْدَكُنَّyour plotعَظِيمٌ(is) great. 28

يُوسُفُYusuf,أَعْرِضْturn awayعَنْfromهَـٰذَا‌ۚthis.وَٱسْتَغْفِرِىAnd ask forgivenessلِذَنۢبِكِ‌ۖfor your sin.إِنَّكِIndeed, youكُنتِareمِنَofٱلْخَاطِــِٔينَthe sinful." 29

۞ وَقَالَAnd saidنِسْوَةٌwomenفِىinٱلْمَدِينَةِthe city,ٱمْرَأَتُ"The wife ofٱلْعَزِيزِAzizتُرَٲوِدُ(is) seeking to seduceفَتَـٰهَاher slave boyعَنaboutنَّفْسِهِۦ‌ۖhimself;قَدْindeed,شَغَفَهَاhe has impassioned herحُبًّا‌ۖ(with) love.إِنَّاIndeed, weلَنَرَٮٰهَا[we] surely see herفِىinضَلَـٰلٍan errorمُّبِينٍclear." 30

فَلَمَّاSo whenسَمِعَتْshe heardبِمَكْرِهِنَّof their scheming,أَرْسَلَتْshe sentإِلَيْهِنَّfor themوَأَعْتَدَتْand she preparedلَهُنَّfor themمُتَّكَــًٔاa banquetوَءَاتَتْand she gaveكُلَّeachوَٲحِدَةٍoneمِّنْهُنَّof themسِكِّينًاa knifeوَقَالَتِand she said,ٱخْرُجْ"Come outعَلَيْهِنَّ‌ۖbefore them."فَلَمَّاThen whenرَأَيْنَهُۥٓthey saw himأَكْبَرْنَهُۥthey greatly admired him,وَقَطَّعْنَand cutأَيْدِيَهُنَّtheir hands,وَقُلْنَthey said,حَـٰشَ"ForbidلِلَّهِAllah,مَاnotهَـٰذَا(is) thisبَشَرًاa manإِنْnotهَـٰذَآ(is) thisإِلَّاbutمَلَكٌan angelكَرِيمٌnoble." 31

قَالَتْShe said,فَذَٲلِكُنَّ"Thatٱلَّذِى(is) the one,لُمْتُنَّنِىyou blamed meفِيهِ‌ۖabout him.وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyرَٲوَدتُّهُۥI sought to seduce him,عَن[from]نَّفْسِهِۦ[himself]فَٱسْتَعْصَمَ‌ۖbut he saved himself,وَلَئِنand ifلَّمْnotيَفْعَلْhe doesمَآwhatءَامُرُهُۥI order him,لَيُسْجَنَنَّsurely, he will be imprisonedوَلَيَكُونًاand certainly will beمِّنَofٱلصَّـٰغِرِينَthose who are disgraced." 32

قَالَHe said,رَبِّ"My Lord,ٱلسِّجْنُthe prisonأَحَبُّ(is) dearerإِلَىَّto meمِمَّاthan whatيَدْعُونَنِىٓthey invite meإِلَيْهِ‌ۖto it.وَإِلَّاAnd unlessتَصْرِفْYou turn awayعَنِّىfrom meكَيْدَهُنَّtheir plotأَصْبُI might inclineإِلَيْهِنَّtowards themوَأَكُنand [I] beمِّنَofٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَthe ignorant." 33

فَٱسْتَجَابَSo respondedلَهُۥto himرَبُّهُۥhis Lord,فَصَرَفَand turned awayعَنْهُfrom himكَيْدَهُنَّ‌ۚtheir plot.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, [He]هُوَHeٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) All-Hearer,ٱلْعَلِيمُAll-Knower. 34

ثُمَّThenبَدَا(it) appearedلَهُمto themمِّنۢ بَعْدِafterمَا[what]رَأَوُاْthey had seenٱلْأَيَـٰتِthe signs,لَيَسْجُنُنَّهُۥsurely they should imprison himحَتَّىٰuntilحِينٍa time. 35

وَدَخَلَAnd enteredمَعَهُwith himٱلسِّجْنَ(in) the prisonفَتَيَانِ‌ۖtwo young men.قَالَSaidأَحَدُهُمَآone of them,إِنِّىٓ"Indeed, Iأَرَٮٰنِىٓ[I] see myselfأَعْصِرُpressingخَمْرًا‌ۖwine."وَقَالَAnd saidٱلْأَخَرُthe other,إِنِّىٓ"Indeed, Iأَرَٮٰنِىٓ[I] see myselfأَحْمِلُ[I am] carryingفَوْقَoverرَأْسِىmy headخُبْزًاbread,تَأْكُلُ(were) eatingٱلطَّيْرُthe birdsمِنْهُ‌ۖfrom it.نَبِّئْنَاInform usبِتَأْوِيلِهِۦٓ‌ۖof its interpretation;إِنَّاindeed, weنَرَٮٰكَ[we] see youمِنَofٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers." 36

قَالَHe said,لَا"Notيَأْتِيكُمَا(will) come to both of youطَعَامٌfoodتُرْزَقَانِهِۦٓyou are provided withإِلَّاbutنَبَّأْتُكُمَاI will inform both of youبِتَأْوِيلِهِۦof its interpretation,قَبْلَbeforeأَن[that]يَأْتِيَكُمَا‌ۚ[it] comes to both of you.ذَٲلِكُمَاThatمِمَّا(is) of whatعَلَّمَنِىhas taught meرَبِّىٓ‌ۚmy Lord.إِنِّىIndeed, Iتَرَكْتُ[I] abandonمِلَّةَ(the) religionقَوْمٍ(of) a people,لَّاnotيُؤْمِنُونَthey believeبِٱللَّهِin Allah,وَهُمand theyبِٱلْأَخِرَةِin the Hereafterهُمْ[they]كَـٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers. 37

وَٱتَّبَعْتُAnd I followمِلَّةَ(the) religionءَابَآءِىٓ(of) my forefathers,إِبْرَٲهِيمَIbrahim,وَإِسْحَـٰقَand Ishaqوَيَعْقُوبَ‌ۚand Yaqub.مَاNotكَانَwasلَنَآfor usأَنthatنُّشْرِكَwe associateبِٱللَّهِwith Allahمِنanyشَىْءٍ‌ۚthing.ذَٲلِكَThatمِن(is) fromفَضْلِ(the) Graceٱللَّهِ(of) Allahعَلَيْنَاupon us,وَعَلَىand uponٱلنَّاسِthe mankindوَلَـٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَmostٱلنَّاسِ(of) the menلَا(are) notيَشْكُرُونَgrateful. 38

يَـٰصَـٰحِبَىِO my two companionsٱلسِّجْنِ(of) the prison!ءَأَرْبَابٌAre lordsمُّتَفَرِّقُونَseparateخَيْرٌbetterأَمِorٱللَّهُAllah,ٱلْوَٲحِدُthe Oneٱلْقَهَّارُthe Irresistible? 39

مَاNotتَعْبُدُونَyou worshipمِن دُونِهِۦٓbesides Himإِلَّآbutأَسْمَآءًnamesسَمَّيْتُمُوهَآwhich you have named them,أَنتُمْyouوَءَابَآؤُكُمand your forefathers,مَّآnotأَنزَلَ(has) sent downٱللَّهُAllahبِهَاfor itمِنanyسُلْطَـٰنٍ‌ۚauthority.إِنِNotٱلْحُكْمُ(is) the commandإِلَّاbutلِلَّهِ‌ۚfor Allah.أَمَرَHe has commandedأَلَّاthat notتَعْبُدُوٓاْyou worshipإِلَّآbutإِيَّاهُ‌ۚHim Alone.ذَٲلِكَThatٱلدِّينُ(is) the religionٱلْقَيِّمُthe right,وَلَـٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَmostٱلنَّاسِ[the] menلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow. 40

يَـٰصَـٰحِبَىِO my two companionsٱلسِّجْنِ(of) the prison!أَمَّآAs forأَحَدُكُمَاone of youفَيَسْقِىhe will give drinkرَبَّهُۥ(to) his masterخَمْرًا‌ۖwine;وَأَمَّاand as forٱلْأَخَرُthe otherفَيُصْلَبُhe will be crucified,فَتَأْكُلُand will eatٱلطَّيْرُthe birdsمِنfromرَّأْسِهِۦ‌ۚhis head.قُضِىَHas been decreedٱلْأَمْرُthe matterٱلَّذِى فِيهِabout whichتَسْتَفْتِيَانِyou both inquire." 41

وَقَالَAnd he saidلِلَّذِىto the one whomظَنَّhe thoughtأَنَّهُۥthat heنَاجٍ(would be) savedمِّنْهُمَاof both of them,ٱذْكُرْنِى"Mention meعِندَtoرَبِّكَyour master."فَأَنسَـٰهُBut made him forgetٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُthe Shaitaanذِكْرَ(the) mentionرَبِّهِۦ(to) his master,فَلَبِثَso he remainedفِىinٱلسِّجْنِthe prisonبِضْعَseveralسِنِينَyears. 42

وَقَالَAnd saidٱلْمَلِكُthe king,إِنِّىٓ"Indeed, Iأَرَىٰ[I] have seenسَبْعَsevenبَقَرَٲتٍcowsسِمَانٍfat,يَأْكُلُهُنَّeating themسَبْعٌsevenعِجَافٌlean ones,وَسَبْعَand sevenسُنۢبُلَـٰتٍears (of corn)خُضْرٍgreen,وَأُخَرَand otherيَابِسَـٰتٍ‌ۖdry.يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلْمَلَأُchiefs!أَفْتُونِىExplain to meفِىaboutرُءْيَـٰىَmy visionإِنifكُنتُمْyou canلِلرُّءْيَاof visionsتَعْبُرُونَinterpret." 43

قَالُوٓاْThey said,أَضْغَـٰثُ"Confusedأَحْلَـٰمٍ‌ۖdreams,وَمَاand notنَحْنُweبِتَأْوِيلِ(are) in the interpretationٱلْأَحْلَـٰمِ(of) the dreamsبِعَـٰلِمِينَlearned." 44

وَقَالَBut saidٱلَّذِىthe one whoنَجَاwas savedمِنْهُمَاof the twoوَٱدَّكَرَand rememberedبَعْدَafterأُمَّةٍa period,أَنَا۟"Iأُنَبِّئُكُم[I] will inform youبِتَأْوِيلِهِۦof its interpretationفَأَرْسِلُونِso send me forth. 45

يُوسُفُYusuf,أَيُّهَاOٱلصِّدِّيقُthe truthful one!أَفْتِنَاExplain to usفِىaboutسَبْعِ(the) sevenبَقَرَٲتٍcowsسِمَانٍfatيَأْكُلُهُنَّeating themسَبْعٌsevenعِجَافٌlean ones,وَسَبْعِand sevenسُنۢبُلَـٰتٍears (of corn)خُضْرٍgreenوَأُخَرَand otherيَابِسَـٰتٍdry,لَّعَلِّىٓthat I mayأَرْجِعُreturnإِلَىtoٱلنَّاسِthe peopleلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَعْلَمُونَknow." 46

قَالَHe said,تَزْرَعُونَ"You will sowسَبْعَ(for) sevenسِنِينَyears,دَأَبًاas usual,فَمَاand that whichحَصَدتُّمْyou reapفَذَرُوهُso leave itفِىinسُنۢبُلِهِۦٓits earsإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلاًa littleمِّمَّاfrom whichتَأْكُلُونَyou (will) eat. 47

ثُمَّThenيَأْتِىwill comeمِنۢ بَعْدِafterذَٲلِكَthatسَبْعٌsevenشِدَادٌhard (years)يَأْكُلْنَ(which will) consumeمَاwhatقَدَّمْتُمْyou advancedلَهُنَّfor them,إِلَّاexceptقَلِيلاًa littleمِّمَّاof whatتُحْصِنُونَyou (will) store. 48

ثُمَّThenيَأْتِىwill comeمِنۢ بَعْدِafterذَٲلِكَthatعَامٌa yearفِيهِin itيُغَاثُwill be given abundant rainٱلنَّاسُthe peopleوَفِيهِand in itيَعْصِرُونَthey will press." 49

وَقَالَAnd saidٱلْمَلِكُthe king,ٱئْتُونِى بِهِۦ‌ۖ"Bring him to me."فَلَمَّاBut whenجَآءَهُcame to himٱلرَّسُولُthe messenger,قَالَhe said,ٱرْجِعْ"Returnإِلَىٰtoرَبِّكَyour lord,فَسْــَٔلْهُand ask himمَاwhatبَالُ(is the) caseٱلنِّسْوَةِ(of) the womenٱلَّـٰتِىwhoقَطَّعْنَcutأَيْدِيَهُنَّ‌ۚtheir hands.إِنَّIndeed,رَبِّىmy Lordبِكَيْدِهِنَّof their plotعَلِيمٌ(is) All-Knower." 50

قَالَHe said,مَا"Whatخَطْبُكُنَّ(was) your affairإِذْwhenرَٲوَدتُّنَّyou sought to seduceيُوسُفَYusufعَنfromنَّفْسِهِۦ‌ۚhimself?"قُلْنَThey said,حَـٰشَ لِلَّهِ"Allah forbid!مَاNotعَلِمْنَاwe knowعَلَيْهِabout himمِنanyسُوٓءٍ‌ۚevil."قَالَتِSaidٱمْرَأَتُ(the) wifeٱلْعَزِيزِ(of) Aziz,ٱلْـَٔـٰنَ"Nowحَصْحَصَ(is) manifestٱلْحَقُّthe truth.أَنَا۟Iرَٲوَدتُّهُۥsought to seduce himعَنfromنَّفْسِهِۦhimself,وَإِنَّهُۥand indeed, heلَمِنَ(is) surely ofٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthful. 51

ذَٲلِكَThatلِيَعْلَمَhe may knowأَنِّىthat Iلَمْnotأَخُنْهُ[I] betray himبِٱلْغَيْبِin secret,وَأَنَّand thatٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideكَيْدَ(the) planٱلْخَآئِنِينَ(of) the betrayers." 52

۞ وَمَآ"And notأُبَرِّئُI absolveنَفْسِىٓ‌ۚmyself.إِنَّIndeed,ٱلنَّفْسَthe soulلَأَمَّارَةُۢ(is) a certain enjoinerبِٱلسُّوٓءِof evil,إِلَّاunlessمَا[that]رَحِمَbestows Mercyرَبِّىٓ‌ۚmy Lord.إِنَّIndeed,رَبِّىmy Lordغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-Forgiving,رَّحِيمٌMost Merciful." 53

وَقَالَAnd saidٱلْمَلِكُthe king,ٱئْتُونِى بِهِۦٓ"Bring him to me;أَسْتَخْلِصْهُI will select himلِنَفْسِى‌ۖfor myself."فَلَمَّاThen whenكَلَّمَهُۥhe spoke to him,قَالَhe said,إِنَّكَ"Indeed, youٱلْيَوْمَ(are) todayلَدَيْنَاwith usمَكِينٌfirmly establishedأَمِينٌ(and) trusted." 54

قَالَHe said,ٱجْعَلْنِى"Appoint meعَلَىٰoverخَزَآئِنِ(the) treasuriesٱلْأَرْضِ‌ۖ(of) the land.إِنِّىIndeed, Iحَفِيظٌ(will be) a guardianعَلِيمٌknowing." 55

وَكَذَٲلِكَAnd thusمَكَّنَّاWe establishedلِيُوسُفَ[to] Yusufفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landيَتَبَوَّأُto settleمِنْهَاthereinحَيْثُwhere everيَشَآءُ‌ۚhe willed.نُصِيبُWe bestowبِرَحْمَتِنَاOur Mercyمَن(on) whomنَّشَآءُ‌ۖWe will.وَلَاAnd notنُضِيعُWe let go wasteأَجْرَ(the) rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ(of) the good-doers. 56

وَلَأَجْرُAnd surely (the) rewardٱلْأَخِرَةِ(of) the Hereafterخَيْرٌ(is) betterلِّلَّذِينَfor those whoءَامَنُواْbelieveوَكَانُواْand areيَتَّقُونَGod conscious. 57

وَجَآءَAnd cameإِخْوَةُ(the) brothersيُوسُفَ(of) Yusufفَدَخَلُواْand they enteredعَلَيْهِupon him;فَعَرَفَهُمْand he recognized them,وَهُمْbut theyلَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَknew him not. 58

وَلَمَّاAnd whenجَهَّزَهُمhe had furnished themبِجَهَازِهِمْwith their supplies,قَالَhe said,ٱئْتُونِى"Bring to meبِأَخٍa brotherلَّكُمof yours,مِّنْfromأَبِيكُمْ‌ۚyour father.أَلَاDo notتَرَوْنَyou seeأَنِّىٓthat Iأُوفِى[I] give fullٱلْكَيْلَ[the] measure,وَأَنَا۟and that I amخَيْرُ(the) bestٱلْمُنزِلِينَ(of) the hosts? 59

فَإِنBut ifلَّمْnotتَأْتُونِى بِهِۦyou bring him to meفَلَاthen (there will be) noكَيْلَmeasureلَكُمْfor youعِندِىfrom me,وَلَاand notتَقْرَبُونِyou will come near me." 60

قَالُواْThey said,سَنُرَٲوِدُ"We will try to get permissionعَنْهُfor himأَبَاهُ(from) his father,وَإِنَّاand indeed we,لَفَـٰعِلُونَsurely will do." 61

وَقَالَAnd he saidلِفِتْيَـٰنِهِto his servants,ٱجْعَلُواْ"Putبِضَـٰعَتَهُمْtheir merchandiseفِىinرِحَالِهِمْtheir saddlebagsلَعَلَّهُمْso that theyيَعْرِفُونَهَآmay recognize itإِذَاwhenٱنقَلَبُوٓاْthey go backإِلَىٰٓtoأَهْلِهِمْtheir peopleلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَرْجِعُونَreturn." 62

فَلَمَّاSo whenرَجَعُوٓاْthey returnedإِلَىٰٓtoأَبِيهِمْtheir father,قَالُواْthey said,يَـٰٓأَبَانَا"O our father!مُنِعَHas been deniedمِنَّاto usٱلْكَيْلُthe measure,فَأَرْسِلْso sendمَعَنَآwith usأَخَانَاour brotherنَكْتَلْ(that) we will get measure.وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, weلَهُۥfor himلَحَـٰفِظُونَ(will) surely (be) guardians." 63

قَالَHe said,هَلْ"ShouldءَامَنُكُمْI entrust youعَلَيْهِwith himإِلَّاexceptكَمَآasأَمِنتُكُمْI entrusted youعَلَىٰٓwithأَخِيهِhis brotherمِن قَبْلُ‌ۖbefore?فَٱللَّهُBut Allahخَيْرٌ(is) the bestحَـٰفِظًا‌ۖGuardianوَهُوَand Heأَرْحَمُ(is the) Most Mercifulٱلرَّٲحِمِينَ(of) the merciful." 64

وَلَمَّاAnd whenفَتَحُواْthey openedمَتَـٰعَهُمْtheir baggage,وَجَدُواْthey foundبِضَـٰعَتَهُمْtheir merchandiseرُدَّتْreturnedإِلَيْهِمْ‌ۖto them.قَالُواْThey said,يَـٰٓأَبَانَا"O our father!مَاWhatنَبْغِى‌ۖ(could) we desire?هَـٰذِهِۦThisبِضَـٰعَتُنَا(is) our merchandiseرُدَّتْreturnedإِلَيْنَا‌ۖto us.وَنَمِيرُAnd we will get provisionأَهْلَنَا(for) our family,وَنَحْفَظُand we will protectأَخَانَاour brotherوَنَزْدَادُand get an increaseكَيْلَmeasureبَعِيرٍ‌ۖ(of) a camel's (load).ذَٲلِكَThatكَيْلٌ(is) a measurementيَسِيرٌeasy." 65

قَالَHe said,لَنْ"Neverأُرْسِلَهُۥwill I send himمَعَكُمْwith youحَتَّىٰuntilتُؤْتُونِyou give to meمَوْثِقًاa promiseمِّنَbyٱللَّهِAllahلَتَأْتُنَّنِى بِهِۦٓthat surely you will bring him to meإِلَّآunlessأَنthatيُحَاطَ بِكُمْ‌ۖyou are surrounded."فَلَمَّآAnd whenءَاتَوْهُthey had given himمَوْثِقَهُمْtheir promise,قَالَhe said,ٱللَّهُ"Allahعَلَىٰoverمَاwhatنَقُولُwe sayوَكِيلٌ(is) a Guardian." 66

وَقَالَAnd he said,يَـٰبَنِىَّ"O my sons!لَا(Do) notتَدْخُلُواْenterمِنۢfromبَابٍ وَٲحِدٍone gate,وَٱدْخُلُواْbut enterمِنْfromأَبْوَٲبٍgatesمُّتَفَرِّقَةٍ‌ۖdifferent.وَمَآAnd notأُغْنِىI can availعَنكُمyouمِّنَagainstٱللَّهِAllahمِنanyشَىْءٍ‌ۖthing.إِنِNotٱلْحُكْمُ(is) the decisionإِلَّاexceptلِلَّهِ‌ۖwith Allah,عَلَيْهِupon Himتَوَكَّلْتُ‌ۖI put my trustوَعَلَيْهِand upon Him,فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِlet put (their) trustٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَthe ones who put trust." 67

وَلَمَّاAnd whenدَخَلُواْthey enteredمِنْfromحَيْثُwhereأَمَرَهُمْordered themأَبُوهُمtheir father,مَّاnotكَانَitيُغْنِىavail(ed)عَنْهُمthemمِّنَagainstٱللَّهِAllahمِنanyشَىْءٍthingإِلَّاbutحَاجَةً(it was) a needفِىofنَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَYaqub's soul,قَضَـٰهَا‌ۚwhich he carried out.وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, heلَذُو(was) a possessorعِلْمٍ(of) knowledgeلِّمَاbecauseعَلَّمْنَـٰهُWe had taught him,وَلَـٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَmostٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peopleلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow. 68

وَلَمَّاAnd whenدَخَلُواْthey enteredعَلَىٰuponيُوسُفَYusuf,ءَاوَىٰٓhe tookإِلَيْهِto himselfأَخَاهُ‌ۖhis brother.قَالَHe said,إِنِّىٓ"Indeed, Iأَنَا۟[I] amأَخُوكَyour brotherفَلَاso (do) notتَبْتَئِسْgrieveبِمَاfor whatكَانُواْthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَdo." 69

فَلَمَّاSo whenجَهَّزَهُمhe had furnished themبِجَهَازِهِمْwith their supplies,جَعَلَhe putٱلسِّقَايَةَthe drinking cupفِىinرَحْلِthe bagأَخِيهِ(of) his brother.ثُمَّThenأَذَّنَcalled outمُؤَذِّنٌan announcerأَيَّتُهَا"O youٱلْعِيرُ(in) the caravan!إِنَّكُمْIndeed, youلَسَـٰرِقُونَsurely (are) thieves." 70

قَالُواْThey saidوَأَقْبَلُواْturning towardsعَلَيْهِمthem,مَّاذَا"What (is it)تَفْقِدُونَyou miss?" 71

قَالُواْThey said,نَفْقِدُ"We are missingصُوَاعَ(the) cupٱلْمَلِكِ(of) the king.وَلِمَنAnd for (one) whoجَآءَbringsبِهِۦit,حِمْلُ(is) a loadبَعِيرٍ(of) a camel,وَأَنَا۟and Iبِهِۦfor itزَعِيمٌ(is) responsible." 72

قَالُواْThey said,تَٱللَّهِ"By Allahلَقَدْcertainlyعَلِمْتُمyou know,مَّاnotجِئْنَاwe cameلِنُفْسِدَthat we cause corruptionفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe land,وَمَاand notكُنَّاwe areسَـٰرِقِينَthieves." 73

قَالُواْThey said,فَمَا"Then whatجَزَٲٓؤُهُۥٓ(will be the) recompense (of) itإِنifكُنتُمْyou areكَـٰذِبِينَliars." 74

قَالُواْThey said,جَزَٲٓؤُهُۥ"Its recompenseمَن(is that one) who,وُجِدَit is foundفِىinرَحْلِهِۦhis bag,فَهُوَthen heجَزَٲٓؤُهُۥ‌ۚ(will be) his recompense.كَذَٲلِكَThusنَجْزِى(do) we recompenseٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers." 75

فَبَدَأَSo he beganبِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْwith their bagsقَبْلَbeforeوِعَآءِ(the) bagأَخِيهِ(of) his brother;ثُمَّthenٱسْتَخْرَجَهَاhe brought it outمِنfromوِعَآءِ(the) bagأَخِيهِ‌ۚ(of) his brother.كَذَٲلِكَThusكِدْنَا(did) We planلِيُوسُفَ‌ۖfor Yusuf.مَا كَانَHe could notلِيَأْخُذَtakeأَخَاهُhis brotherفِىbyدِينِthe lawٱلْمَلِكِ(of) the king,إِلَّآexceptأَنthatيَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ‌ۚAllah willed.نَرْفَعُWe raiseدَرَجَـٰتٍ(in) degreesمَّنwhomنَّشَآءُ‌ۗWe will,وَفَوْقَbut overكُلِّeveryذِىpossessorعِلْمٍ(of) knowledgeعَلِيمٌ(is) the All-Knower. 76

۞ قَالُوٓاْThey said,إِن"Ifيَسْرِقْhe steals -فَقَدْthen verilyسَرَقَstoleأَخٌa brotherلَّهُۥof hisمِن قَبْلُ‌ۚbefore."فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُBut Yusuf kept it secretفِىwithinنَفْسِهِۦhimself,وَلَمْand (did) notيُبْدِهَاreveal itلَهُمْ‌ۚto them.قَالَHe said,أَنتُمْ"Youشَرٌّ(are the) worseمَّكَانًا‌ۖ(in) position,وَٱللَّهُand Allahأَعْلَمُknows bestبِمَاof whatتَصِفُونَyou describe." 77

قَالُواْThey said,يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا"OٱلْعَزِيزُAziz!إِنَّIndeed,لَهُۥٓhe hasأَبًاa fatherشَيْخًاoldكَبِيرًا[great],فَخُذْso takeأَحَدَنَاone of usمَكَانَهُۥٓ‌ۖ(in) his place.إِنَّاIndeed, weنَرَٮٰكَ[we] see youمِنَofٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers." 78

قَالَHe said,مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِ"Allah forbidأَنthatنَّأْخُذَwe takeإِلَّاexceptمَن(one) who,وَجَدْنَاwe foundمَتَـٰعَنَاour possessionعِندَهُۥٓwith him.إِنَّآIndeed, weإِذًاthenلَّظَـٰلِمُونَsurely (would be) wrongdoers." 79

فَلَمَّاSo whenٱسْتَيْــَٔسُواْthey despairedمِنْهُof him,خَلَصُواْthey secluded themselvesنَجِيًّا‌ۖ(in) private consultation.قَالَSaidكَبِيرُهُمْthe eldest among them,أَلَمْ"Do notتَعْلَمُوٓاْyou knowأَنَّthatأَبَاكُمْyour father,قَدْ أَخَذَhas takenعَلَيْكُمupon youمَّوْثِقًاa promiseمِّنَbyٱللَّهِAllah,وَمِن قَبْلُand beforeمَاthatفَرَّطتُمْyou failedفِىconcerningيُوسُفَ‌ۖYusuf?فَلَنْSo neverأَبْرَحَwill I leaveٱلْأَرْضَthe landحَتَّىٰuntilيَأْذَنَpermitsلِىٓmeأَبِىٓmy fatherأَوْorيَحْكُمَ ٱللَّهُAllah decidesلِى‌ۖfor me,وَهُوَand Heخَيْرُ(is) the Bestٱلْحَـٰكِمِينَ(of) the judges. 80

ٱرْجِعُوٓاْReturnإِلَىٰٓtoأَبِيكُمْyour fatherفَقُولُواْand say,يَـٰٓأَبَانَآ`O our father!إِنَّIndeed,ٱبْنَكَyour sonسَرَقَhas stolen,وَمَاand notشَهِدْنَآwe testifyإِلَّاexceptبِمَاof whatعَلِمْنَاwe knew.وَمَاAnd notكُنَّاwe wereلِلْغَيْبِof the unseenحَـٰفِظِينَguardians. 81

وَسْــَٔلِAnd askٱلْقَرْيَةَthe townٱلَّتِىwhereكُنَّاwe wereفِيهَا[in it],وَٱلْعِيرَand the caravanٱلَّتِىٓwhichأَقْبَلْنَاwe returnedفِيهَا‌ۖ[in it].وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, weلَصَـٰدِقُونَsurely (are) truthful. 82

قَالَHe said,بَلْ"Nay,سَوَّلَتْhave enticedلَكُمْyouأَنفُسُكُمْyour soulsأَمْرًا‌ۖsomething,فَصَبْرٌso patienceجَمِيلٌ‌ۖ(is) beautiful.عَسَىPerhapsٱللَّهُAllah,أَن يَأْتِيَنِى بِهِمْwill bring them to meجَمِيعًا‌ۚall.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, HeهُوَHeٱلْعَلِيمُ(is) the All-Knower,ٱلْحَكِيمُAll-Wise." 83

وَتَوَلَّىٰAnd he turned awayعَنْهُمْfrom themوَقَالَand said,يَـٰٓأَسَفَىٰ"Alas, my griefعَلَىٰoverيُوسُفَYusuf!"وَٱبْيَضَّتْAnd became whiteعَيْنَاهُhis eyesمِنَfromٱلْحُزْنِthe grief,فَهُوَand he (was)كَظِيمٌa suppressor. 84

قَالُواْThey said,تَٱللَّهِ"By Allah,تَفْتَؤُاْyou will not ceaseتَذْكُرُrememberingيُوسُفَYusufحَتَّىٰuntilتَكُونَyou becomeحَرَضًاfatally illأَوْorتَكُونَbecomeمِنَofٱلْهَـٰلِكِينَthose who perish." 85

قَالَHe said,إِنَّمَآ"OnlyأَشْكُواْI complainبَثِّى(of) my sufferingوَحُزْنِىٓand my griefإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllah,وَأَعْلَمُand I knowمِنَfromٱللَّهِAllahمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَyou know. 86

يَـٰبَنِىَّO my sons!ٱذْهَبُواْGoفَتَحَسَّسُواْand inquireمِنaboutيُوسُفَYusufوَأَخِيهِand his brother,وَلَاand notتَاْيْــَٔسُواْdespairمِنofرَّوْحِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۖ(the) Mercy of Allah.إِنَّهُۥIndeed,لَاnoneيَاْيْــَٔسُdespairsمِنofرَّوْحِ ٱللَّهِ(the) Mercy of Allahإِلَّاexceptٱلْقَوْمُthe peopleٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَthe disbelievers." 87

فَلَمَّاSo whenدَخَلُواْthey enteredعَلَيْهِupon himقَالُواْthey said,يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ"O Aziz!مَسَّنَاHas touched usوَأَهْلَنَاand our familyٱلضُّرُّthe adversity,وَجِئْنَاand we have comeبِبِضَـٰعَةٍwith goodsمُّزْجَـٰةٍ(of) little value,فَأَوْفِbut pay (in) fullلَنَاto usٱلْكَيْلَthe measureوَتَصَدَّقْand be charitableعَلَيْنَآ‌ۖto us.إِنَّIndeed,ٱللَّهَAllahيَجْزِىrewardsٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَthe charitable." 88

قَالَHe said,هَلْ"Doعَلِمْتُمyou knowمَّاwhatفَعَلْتُمyou didبِيُوسُفَwith Yusufوَأَخِيهِand his brother,إِذْwhenأَنتُمْyou wereجَـٰهِلُونَignorant?" 89

قَالُوٓاْThey said,أَءِنَّكَ"Are you indeed,لَأَنتَ[surely you],يُوسُفُ‌ۖYusuf?"قَالَHe said,أَنَا۟"I amيُوسُفُYusufوَهَـٰذَآand thisأَخِى‌ۖ(is) my brother.قَدْIndeed,مَنَّ ٱللَّهُAllah has been graciousعَلَيْنَآ‌ۖto us.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, heمَنwhoيَتَّقِfears Allahوَيَصْبِرْand (is) patient,فَإِنَّthen indeed,ٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيُضِيعُlet go wasteأَجْرَ(the) rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ(of) the good-doers." 90

قَالُواْThey said,تَٱللَّهِ"By Allah,لَقَدْcertainlyءَاثَرَكَ ٱللَّهُAllah has preferred youعَلَيْنَاover usوَإِنand indeed,كُنَّاwe have beenلَخَـٰطِــِٔينَsinners." 91

قَالَHe said,لَا"Noتَثْرِيبَblameعَلَيْكُمُupon youٱلْيَوْمَ‌ۖtoday.يَغْفِرُ ٱللَّهُAllah will forgiveلَكُمْ‌ۖyou,وَهُوَand Heأَرْحَمُ(is) the Most Mercifulٱلرَّٲحِمِينَ(of) those who show mercy. 92

ٱذْهَبُواْGoبِقَمِيصِى هَـٰذَاwith this shirt of mineفَأَلْقُوهُand cast itعَلَىٰoverوَجْهِ(the) faceأَبِى(of) my father,يَأْتِ بَصِيرًاhe will regain sight.وَأْتُونِىAnd bring to meبِأَهْلِكُمْyour familyأَجْمَعِينَall together." 93

وَلَمَّاAnd whenفَصَلَتِdepartedٱلْعِيرُthe caravan,قَالَ أَبُوهُمْtheir father said,إِنِّى"Indeed, Iلَأَجِدُ[I] findرِيحَ(the) smellيُوسُفَ‌ۖ(of) Yusuf,لَوْلَآif notأَنthatتُفَنِّدُونِyou think me weakened in mind." 94

قَالُواْThey said,تَٱللَّهِ"By Allahإِنَّكَindeed, youلَفِىsurely (are) inضَلَـٰلِكَyour errorٱلْقَدِيمِold." 95

فَلَمَّآThen whenأَن[that]جَآءَarrivedٱلْبَشِيرُthe bearer of glad tidings,أَلْقَـٰهُhe cast itعَلَىٰoverوَجْهِهِۦhis face,فَٱرْتَدَّ بَصِيرًا‌ۖthen returned (his) sight.قَالَHe said,أَلَمْ"Did notأَقُلI sayلَّكُمْto you,إِنِّىٓindeed, Iأَعْلَمُ[I] knowمِنَfromٱللَّهِAllahمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَyou know?" 96

قَالُواْThey said,يَـٰٓأَبَانَا"O our father!ٱسْتَغْفِرْAsk forgivenessلَنَاfor usذُنُوبَنَآ(of) our sins.إِنَّاIndeed, weكُنَّاhave beenخَـٰطِــِٔينَsinners." 97

قَالَHe said,سَوْفَ"SoonأَسْتَغْفِرُI will ask forgivenessلَكُمْfor youرَبِّىٓ‌ۖ(from) my Lord.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, He,هُوَHeٱلْغَفُورُ(is) the Oft-Forgiving,ٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful." 98

فَلَمَّاThen whenدَخَلُواْthey enteredعَلَىٰuponيُوسُفَYusuf,ءَاوَىٰٓhe tookإِلَيْهِto himselfأَبَوَيْهِhis parentsوَقَالَand said,ٱدْخُلُواْ"EnterمِصْرَEgyptإِنifشَآءَ ٱللَّهُAllah wills,ءَامِنِينَsafe." 99

وَرَفَعَAnd he raisedأَبَوَيْهِhis parentsعَلَىuponٱلْعَرْشِthe throneوَخَرُّواْand they fell downلَهُۥto himسُجَّدًا‌ۖprostrate.وَقَالَAnd he said,يَـٰٓأَبَتِ"O my father!هَـٰذَاThisتَأْوِيلُ(is the) interpretationرُءْيَـٰىَ(of) my dream,مِن قَبْلُ(of) before.قَدْVerily,جَعَلَهَاhas made itرَبِّىmy Lordحَقًّا‌ۖtrue.وَقَدْAnd indeed,أَحْسَنَHe was goodبِىٓto meإِذْwhenأَخْرَجَنِىHe took me outمِنَofٱلسِّجْنِthe prison,وَجَآءَand broughtبِكُمyouمِّنَfromٱلْبَدْوِthe bedouin lifeمِنۢ بَعْدِafterأَن[that]نَّزَغَhad caused discordٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُthe Shaitaanبَيْنِىbetween meوَبَيْنَand betweenإِخْوَتِىٓ‌ۚmy brothers.إِنَّIndeed,رَبِّىmy Lordلَطِيفٌ(is) Most Subtleلِّمَاto whatيَشَآءُ‌ۚHe wills.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, He,هُوَHeٱلْعَلِيمُ(is) the All-Knower,ٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise. 100

۞ رَبِّMy Lord,قَدْindeed,ءَاتَيْتَنِىyou have given meمِنَofٱلْمُلْكِthe sovereigntyوَعَلَّمْتَنِىand taught meمِنofتَأْوِيلِthe interpretationٱلْأَحَادِيثِ‌ۚof the events.فَاطِرَCreatorٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earth,أَنتَYouوَلِىِّۦ(are) my Protector,فِىinٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldوَٱلْأَخِرَةِ‌ۖand the Hereafter.تَوَفَّنِىCause me to dieمُسْلِمًا(as) a Muslim,وَأَلْحِقْنِىand join meبِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَwith the righteous." 101

ذَٲلِكَThatمِنْ(is) fromأَنۢبَآءِthe newsٱلْغَيْبِ(of) the unseenنُوحِيهِwhich We revealإِلَيْكَ‌ۖto you.وَمَاAnd notكُنتَyou wereلَدَيْهِمْwith themإِذْwhenأَجْمَعُوٓاْthey put togetherأَمْرَهُمْtheir planوَهُمْwhile theyيَمْكُرُونَ(were) plotting. 102

وَمَآAnd notأَكْثَرُmostٱلنَّاسِ(of) the mankind,وَلَوْeven thoughحَرَصْتَyou desire,بِمُؤْمِنِينَ(will be) believers. 103

وَمَاAnd notتَسْــَٔلُهُمْyou ask themعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍ‌ۚreward.إِنْNotهُوَ(is) itإِلَّاbutذِكْرٌa reminderلِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَto the worlds. 104

وَكَأَيِّنAnd how manyمِّنْofءَايَةٍa Signفِىinٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthيَمُرُّونَthey passعَلَيْهَاover it,وَهُمْwhile theyعَنْهَا(are) from themمُعْرِضُونَthe ones who turn away. 105

وَمَاAnd notيُؤْمِنُbelieveأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themبِٱللَّهِin Allahإِلَّاexceptوَهُمwhile theyمُّشْرِكُونَassociate partners with Him. 106

أَفَأَمِنُوٓاْDo they then feel secureأَن(against) thatتَأْتِيَهُمْcomes to themغَـٰشِيَةٌan overwhelmingمِّنْ[of]عَذَابِpunishmentٱللَّهِ(of) Allah,أَوْorتَأْتِيَهُمُcomes to themٱلسَّاعَةُthe Hourبَغْتَةًsuddenlyوَهُمْwhile theyلَا(do) notيَشْعُرُونَperceive? 107

قُلْSay,هَـٰذِهِۦ"Thisسَبِيلِىٓ(is) my way;أَدْعُوٓاْI inviteإِلَىtoٱللَّهِ‌ۚAllah,عَلَىٰwithبَصِيرَةٍinsight,أَنَا۟Iوَمَنِand whoeverٱتَّبَعَنِى‌ۖfollows me.وَسُبْحَـٰنَAnd Glory beٱللَّهِ(to) Allahوَمَآand notأَنَا۟I amمِنَofٱلْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheists." 108

وَمَآAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentمِن قَبْلِكَbefore you,إِلَّاbutرِجَالاًmenنُّوحِىٓWe revealedإِلَيْهِمto themمِّنْfrom (among)أَهْلِ(the) peopleٱلْقُرَىٰٓ‌ۗ(of) the townships.أَفَلَمْSo have notيَسِيرُواْthey traveledفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthفَيَنظُرُواْand seenكَيْفَhowكَانَwasعَـٰقِبَةُ(the) endٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoمِن قَبْلِهِمْ‌ۗ(were) before them?وَلَدَارُAnd surely the homeٱلْأَخِرَةِ(of) the Hereafterخَيْرٌ(is) bestلِّلَّذِينَfor those whoٱتَّقَوْاْ‌ۗfear Allah.أَفَلَاThen will notتَعْقِلُونَyou use reason? 109

حَتَّىٰٓUntilإِذَاwhenٱسْتَيْــَٔسَgave up hopeٱلرُّسُلُthe Messengers,وَظَنُّوٓاْand thoughtأَنَّهُمْthat theyقَدْcertainlyكُذِبُواْwere denied,جَآءَهُمْthen came to themنَصْرُنَاOur help,فَنُجِّىَand was savedمَنwhomنَّشَآءُ‌ۖWe willed.وَلَاAnd notيُرَدُّ(can) be repelledبَأْسُنَاOur punishmentعَنِfromٱلْقَوْمِthe peopleٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ(who are) criminals. 110

لَقَدْVerily,كَانَ(there) isفِىinقَصَصِهِمْtheir storiesعِبْرَةٌa lessonلِّأُوْلِىfor menٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ‌ۗ(of) understanding.مَاNotكَانَ(it) isحَدِيثًاa narrationيُفْتَرَىٰinvented,وَلَـٰكِنbutتَصْدِيقَa confirmationٱلَّذِى(of that ) whichبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ(was) before itوَتَفْصِيلَand a detailed explanationكُلِّ(of) allشَىْءٍthings,وَهُدًىand a guidanceوَرَحْمَةًand mercyلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَwho believe. 111
